Scotland’s police watchdog has been instructed to investigate the circumstances of a young woman’s death as the Crown Office has taken charge of the murder probe in Glasgow.
Brodie MacGregor, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews were called to an address in the city’s Elmvale Street at around 10.15am on Monday.
A 52-year-old man was arrested in connection with Ms MacGregor’s death and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Ms MacGregor died following earlier police contact.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) is now leading the investigation.
The circumstances of the case have also been referred to the force’s watchdog, the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).

A spokesperson for PIRC said: “COPFS has instructed PIRC to investigate the circumstances of the death of a 23-year-old woman following police contact, in Glasgow on 26 August 2024.
“At the conclusion of our investigation a report will be sent to COPFS.”
