Emergency plane landing brings A40 traffic to standstill

UK

A light aircraft made an emergency landing on a busy road near Gloucester.

The aircraft was forced to land on the central reservation of the A40 Golden Valley bypass, between Gloucester and Cheltenham, at around 6pm today.

The road was subsequently shut in both directions between the A417 and J11 of the M5 due to what was described as an “aviation incident”.

It is understood no one was injured, and no other vehicles were involved.
