House goes up in flames after being struck by lightning

A house has gone up in flames after being struck by lightning.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze in Aviemore’s Grampian View at around 10am on Monday.

It came amid a Met Office yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the whole of Scotland, which ended at 1pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) mobilised four engines and a height appliance to the scene, where the emergency crews remain.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “There were no reported casualties.”
