Police are treating a woman’s death as murder after finding the bodies of a married couple at a home in Scotland.
Alison McLaughlin, 53, and husband Neil, 57, were found dead in their home on Greenock’s Banff Road, Inverclyde, after concern was raised for the pair’s welfare on Friday 5 January.
A probe was subsequently launched into the “unexplained” deaths.
In an update on Thursday, Police Scotland said the death of Mrs McLaughlin was being treated as murder while Mr McLaughlin’s was being treated as non-suspicious.
The force added that extensive enquiries have been carried out and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both Alison and Neil. They have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we carried out our investigation.”
