Police in Derby have shot and killed a dog after a man was reportedly attacked and seriously injured inside a property.

Officers cordoned off Cameron Road on Saturday after reports the animal was “presenting a risk” to the public.

The dog was then killed by firearms officers, and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police remained at the property and in the surrounding areas on Saturday afternoon.

There is no ongoing risk to the public and officers will remain in the area as the investigation into the incident continues.

It is not yet known what breed the dog was.
