Police search for man after woman dies in six vehicle crash

UK

Police are looking for a 23-year-old man following a fatal crash involving a van and five other cars on the M40.

A woman in her 50s, who was a passenger in one of the cars, died at the scene of the collision on the northbound carriageway.

Warwickshire Police said five cars and a Peugeot boxer van were involved in the crash between Junction 11 for Banbury, in Oxfordshire, and Junction 12 for Gaydon, in Warwickshire, shortly before 7.15pm on Saturday.

The van driver is thought to have left the area on foot.

Officers want to trace Akashdeep Singh, who also goes by the name of Akash and has connections to the West Midlands, particularly the Oldbury area.

The force said they would like to talk to him because he might have information about the crash.

“If members of the public have information to help us find him or can share details about the collision, please get in touch,” a statement said.

“We’d also ask anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision, the Peugeot and the manner it was being driven prior to the collision to share it with us.”
