Police shoot man in Surrey village after ‘weapon altercation’

Police have shot a man in a village in Surrey after reports of an altercation, leaving him in a critical condition.

The man, in his 20s, is in hospital.

Surrey Police received reports of an “altercation” between two people including a man armed with a weapon in the street on Nursery Road, Knaphill, shortly after midnight.

One of them was shot and taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The two are thought to be known to each other.

A weapon was recovered at the scene by officers.
