Police hunt for suspect after man shot in Leeds

Police are hunting for a suspect after a man was shot in Leeds on Sunday afternoon.

Armed officers arrived at Stainbeck Road after they were contacted by the ambulance service at 2.47pm.

West Yorkshire Police said they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The force said he was taken to hospital where his injuries are not considered life-threatening and he is in a stable condition.

A large crime scene is in place as forensic officers work in the area and specialist searches take place.

The force said the crime scene will remain in place overnight.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

Police have not yet made any arrests in relation to the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Townley, senior investigating officer with the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and are working to identify those involved.

“The criminal use of firearms on our streets is always something we treat extremely seriously, and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of this incident or who has any information or CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation.”
