Police still waiting to quiz triple-murder suspect

UK

Police are still waiting to interview a man suspected of killing the wife and two daughters of racing commentator John Hunt last week.

Detectives will wait until hospital staff confirm Kyle Clifford is well enough to be spoken to.

The 26-year-old is suspected of having killed Carol Hunt, 61, and two of her daughters in an alleged crossbow attack in Bushey, Hertfordshire.

Hertforshire Police said the usual time limit for an arrested person to be held in custody has not yet started as the suspect remains in hospital.

Mrs Hunt, along with daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were found fatally injured at the family home shortly after 7pm last Tuesday.

Clifford was discovered in Enfield, north London, just under 24 hours after a manhunt was launched.

Sky Sports Racing’s Matt Chapman read a further statement on Mr Hunt’s behalf, in which he paid tribute to his “magnificently inspirational” surviving daughter.

“Notwithstanding the horrid evil that’s swept through our lives, wreaking devastation on an unimaginable scale, the counter to that has been the breathtaking messages of support, some of which are still to be read,” he said.

“Every message has felt so important, the same as a reassuring hug.

“We know people are worried about us. We will get through this.”
