A police station has been closed and cordoned off after a suspected Second World War hand grenade was handed in at the front desk.
Malinsgate police station in Telford, Shropshire, and the road outside remains closed on Tuesday, with a 50-metre cordon in place around the building.
West Mercia Police said the device was handed in at the station on Tuesday afternoon.
A force spokesperson told the Press Association the device is believed to be viable.
An Explosives Ordnance Disposal team has been sent to the scene to assess the device and make it safe.
The police advised people to avoid the area and said they will provide further updates in due course.
